Join in our commitment to transparency: from forest to fashion
TENCEL™ commits to providing perpetual transparency and accountability through four pillars of transparency: Share, Prove, Partner and Track.
With added visibility over the journey of the TENCEL™ fibers in your product, you can feel confident you’re adding value to your sustainability mission in more ways than one. Working with TENCEL™, you get transparency into our sustainability practices: from reducing carbon emissions to resource-efficient fiber production.
We go above and beyond in sharing our fiber story. We know that transparency and traceability are the building blocks of trust and long-term industry transformation. To drive systemic change in our industry, we go further than just participating in industry-standard sustainability and transparency ratings schemes and we volunteer information across the supply chain, offering maximum accountability. We hold ourselves to high standards and are recognized as leaders for our sustainability efforts. Most of our claims are backed by globally recognized partners to help you feel added confidence in the eco-credentials of your end product.
CDP Triple-A Score*: The Lenzing group, of which TENCEL is a part, was one of only 12 companies globally recognized with the triple- “A” score for environmental leadership in climate action, water security, and forestry.
EcoVadis Platinum Status*: Lenzing was awarded platinum status from EcoVadis in both 2021 and 2022. Platinum status means that EcoVadis has ranked Lenzing in the top 1% of companies for sustainability in its sector.
ZDHC Roadmap to Zero: As a ZDHC Contributor, Lenzing has been part of the ZDHC MMCF Task Team since 2018, addressing wastewater, sludge, solid waste, and air emissions as part of our ongoing commitment to lowering the environmental impact of the fiber industry.
Top ranking Dark Green Shirt in Canopy Hot Button Report: Lenzing engages with Canopy to ensure responsible wood sourcing and to protect the world’s ancient and endangered forests from ending up in textiles and fibers. In 2022 Lenzing continued its top ranking after being awarded Canopy’s dark green shirt for the second time.
Higg Index Score: The Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI) is the apparel industry’s trusted tool to measure and score the environmental impacts of materials. To facilitate transparency with our partners, we are able to share the Higg MSI score of TENCEL™ upon request.
TENCEL™ fibers are unique as we have developed a customised identification technology to identify our fibers. Most TENCEL™ fibers can be verified through lab testing at fabric and garment levels for authenticity. This testing ability gives you confidence that the fibers were produced in our state-of-the-art facilities, and can be used to help support your claims based on the attributes of the TENCEL™ fibers contained in your products. Here, our transparency helps you tell genuine ingredient story, and in doing so, builds trust with your consumers.
Tell your own sustainability story with support from our resource-efficient fiber production and low carbon footprint practice. Using the Lenzing E-branding service, you can apply for certification and licensing to start using the TENCEL™ brand. As a brand, we are recognized as trusted partners for our transparency efforts by global authorities including the Carbon Disclosure Project and EcoVadis*. By using our branding, you can leverage our reputation to communicate your supply chain story to stakeholders, including end users.
Our fibers’ traceability is supported by a third-party, blockchain-enabled digital platform**, so you can understand the whole fiber journey. As part of this platform, you can identify your key partners and secure your supply chain by showing the flow of products at every stage. With blockchain’s inherent security, you can feel absolute confidence in using TENCEL™ fibers in your product.
