Production digester house
Thermal wood refining uses magnesium bisulfite acid containing sulfur dioxide for decomposition. This process takes place in eight batch digesters with a capacity of 340 m³ each. During cooking the greater part of the lignin and some of the hemicellulose are dissolved and then separated from the pulp fibers. Technical knowledge is required to control the process to realize the desired quality characterisics of the resulting pulp fibers.
The pulp is then floated through narrow slots for screening and separated from non-dissolved pieces of bark (knots), shives and impurities. In the washing process after screening fibers are separated from the cooking liquor.
