Connecting railway

Lenzing AG operates a proprietary connecting railway system. It is responsible for rail transport on the Lenzing AG site. The system has a total length of 17 kilometers. Two remote-controlled diesel engines handle about 1.4 million tons of goods per year and 30,000 wagons require scheduling by wagon management in the same period. Lenzing AG operates a joint control center with ÖBB Rail-Cargo Austria. The purpose of this institution is to optimize workflows by short-looping information on cargo movements and to secure availability of wagons.
