Lenzing supports eb house for children suffering from epidermolysis bullosa
30.11.2005
Lenzing is starting a collaboration with debra-austria, the self-help organization for children suffering from epidermolysis bullosa.
Children with this rare genetic disease suffer from extremely sensitive skin. Minimal pressure causes painful blisters and wounds all over the body.
As of now, fiber producer Lenzing supports the organization with its expertise. The Lenzing fiber TENCEL® is known for its eudermic and cooling properties, as well as its excellent ease of wear.
To start up the collaboration with Lenzing, chairman Rainer Riedl, received a check for EUR 2,000 at the opening ceremony of the first Austrian eb house on 17 November.
Lenzing is committed to improving the quality of life of the affected children and their parents.
TENCEL® achieved excellent results in clinical studies with patients suffering from neurodermitis and psoriasis, conducted by university professor Diepgen. The skin condition of 73 – 84% of psoriasis patients and of 76 – 86% of neurodermitis patients improved significantly after only one week of wearing clothing made of TENCEL®.
Moreover, almost all patients rated ease of wear as "significantly superior" or "superior" to the comparison material. Lenzing is confident that children suffering from epidermolysis bullosa will benefit from its TENCEL® expertise as well.
