Lenzing Technik sets up business on its own

As of 1 October 1999 the former business division of Lenzing AG, Lenzing Technik, will trade on the market as an independent company. Lenzing Technik, a 100% subsidiary of Lenzing AG, will become an autonomous company with retroactive effect as of 1 January 1999. The management of the new Lenzing Technik GmbH & CoKG will be assumed by Dr. Christian Reisinger, member of the Board of Lenzing AG and formerly divisional manager, and Ing. Helmut Aigner, head of the business area with the highest turnover, namely “mechanical engineering / industrial services”.
With a staff of around 480, Lenzing Technik makes an annual turnover of approximately 45 million Euro. The company’s world-wide operations focus on project management including the supply of equipment, consulting and the provision of services, in six different fields:
- Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Services
- Viscose Technology
- Pulp- & Environmental Technology
- Separation Technology
- Lenzing Instruments (testing equipment, extinguishing and marking systems)
- Automation
Lenzing Technik has developed from what was originally a technical service unit of Lenzing AG at the site in Upper-Austria. The company planned and managed large investment projects both in Austria and abroad (Lenzing site, SPV/Indonesia, LFC/USA, Lenzing Lyocell/Heiligenkreuz etc.). The engineering company then began to assert itself on the external market more and more, becoming a recognised industrial partner all over the world in the fibre business. Despite the realisation of large projects – such as the construction of a viscose factory in China – Lenzing Technik has, until now, always remained in the background since fibres represent Lenzing’s core business. Setting up business on its own should help the company to achieve greater flexibility and closer proximity to the market. With this move the company should also be more clearly recognised as an engineering company.
One of the main objectives of Lenzing Technik will continue to be to establish alliances and partnerships. A major point of focus in this respect will be to further extend the services sector in the field of automation, maintenance and project management.. Lenzing Technik’s goal is to further increase market share by making additional innovations in viscose technology, separation technology and special machinery.
