Lenzing AG Opens Representive Office in Hong Kong
01.12.2000
Lenzing AG continues to expand its position as a global player by opening a representative office for its fibers business in Asia. The office is located in Hongkong, which is one of the most important international pivot points of the textile industry. Frequently, the major decisions are taken here as to which textiles are to be used for the production of garments that will eventually be sold in European and North-American markets.
Lenzing will primarily direct its attention to customers like Karstadt, Quelle, Ralph Lauren, Gap, Marks & Spencer, Carrefour, etc., which have their principal purchasing organizations for textiles in Hongkong. By having a representation in Hongkong, Lenzing aims primarily at creating general awareness for the new Lenzing brands, such as Lyocell and Modal, while building up cooperations for the joint development of new textiles that use Lenzing fibers.
Already today, more than one third of Lenzing's special fibers, made in Austria, are sold to Asia, with the trend pointing upwards. In addition, the company - which has its headquarters in Upper Austria - operates its own fiber production in Indonesia, i.e. South Pacific Viscose. The new office in Hongkong will further strengthen and expand the presence of Lenzing in the Far East.
