The number of people with sensitive skin is rising constantly. TENCEL® is the perfect fiber for sensitive skin. The skin-soothing effect of TENCEL® has been both tested and confirmed greatly appreciated by people with sensitive skin.
An increasing number of people are reacting to environmental influences with skin problems.
Studies have shown that 50% of women and 40% of men testify to having a sensitive skin. The rise in skin diseases such as neurodermatitis and psoriasis is alarming.
Sensitive skin reacts particularly quickly to heat and cold as well as to physical and chemical irritations. This results in a reddening of the skin, itchiness and skin irritations. TENCEL® has the ability to help people with sensitive skin. The cellulose fiber is gentle to the skin and ensures a natural feeling of well-being. The smooth surface of the textile transforms softness into a perceptible force and prevents irritations of the skin. TENCEL® and its smooth fiber surface promote an optimal skin feeling. Rough fiber surfaces on the other hand can lead to irritations of the skin. If one compares the surfaces of cotton and TENCEL® , then the difference becomes patently obvious. Cotton fiber has an irregular, rough surface. TENCEL® is smooth and supple.

Compared with cotton, TENCEL® feels much cooler when the temperature rises due to the particularly smooth surface and the high moisture uptake.
In particular people with sensitive skin frequently
suffer in warm temperatures. Independent studies
have revealed that a cooling effect has a positive
influence on one’swell-being.

A subjective feeling of well-being depends greatly on the moisture absorption of the fibers. In the case of TENCEL®, submicroscopic canals between the individual nano fibrils ensure the absorption and release of moisture. The moisture absorption of TENCEL® is enormous. Compared to cotton, TENCEL® absorbs 50% more moisture.

Bacteria do not stand a chance with TENCEL®. The tremendous capacity for TENCEL® to absorb moisture prevents the formation of bacteria because the moisture is immediately transported from the skin into the inside of the fiber. Thus no film of moisture forms on the fiber which can be the basis for bacterial growth. A reduction in bacterial growth also helps to prevent the formation of mold, mites and unpleasant smells. |

As a fiber, TENCEL® is pure, soft, natural and therefore ideally suited to sensitive skin. To uphold these properties in the textile, a lot depends on the further processing. The structure and finishing have an important influence on the comfort level of an article of clothing. Any chemical and mechanical irritations of the skin by fabrics have to be avoided.
